DESCRIPTION:For the 1st Cyprus Oxbridge Debating Society (CODS) events\, the Oxford and Cambridge Cypriot Alumni associations have joined forces to bring to you a promising debate between Polys Polyviou (Lawyer) & Demetrios Hadjihambis (Former President of the Supreme Court). \nWe are asking: “How should we proceed in the Cyprus problem” and they will deliver their opinions on the matter. \nThe British High Commissioner\, Stephen Lillie will make the opening remarks and the event is supported by the British High Commission in Nicosia and the Royal Commonwealth Society for Cyprus.

DESCRIPTION:The Royal Commonwealth Society Cyprus Branch (RCS Cyprus) and the Friends of Cinema Society are pleased to present Commonwealth Film Days 2019 for the second consecutive year.\nThe Film Days will take place between 7 and 21 March at Cine Studio\, University of Nicosia\, featuring five screenings that exemplify the diversity the Commonwealth represents. \nAll films will commence at 20:00. Emilianides\nDean of the School of Law\, University of Nicosia and Chairman of the Royal Commonwealth Society Cyprus Branch.\nAndria Zafirakou\nGlobal Teacher Prize Winner 2018\, CEO of AiR\, Art & Textiles Teacher at Alperton Community School.\nDr Emilios A. Solomou\nDirector of the UNESCO Chair on Cultural Diversity and Intercultural  Dialogue\, University of Nicosia and Member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commonwealth Society Cyprus Branch.\n\nThe aim of this event is to consider multifaith and multicultural education by discussing questions pertaining to collective religious and cultural pluralism\, individual rights to religious freedom\, non-discrimination and the right to education. Emilianides is a practicing advocate\, Professor of Law and Dean of the School of Law of the University of Nicosia. He holds a PhD in Law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is the Chairman of the Royal Commonwealth Society Cyprus Branch and the Editor of the Cyprus and European Law Review. He has written extensively on the regulation of religion\, multiculturalism and education. \nAndria Zafirakou is an Associate Deputy Headteacher at Alperton Community School\, a secondary school academy in the inner city borough of Brent. She studied at the University of Brighton and at UCL Institute of Education. In March 2018 she was awarded the annual Global Teacher Prize Winner. Andria has set up Artists in Residence (AiR) charity\, championing creative subjects at state schools in disadvantaged areas. \nDr Emilios A. Solomou is the Director of the UNESCO Chair of the University of Nicosia and former Executive Vice-President for Administration of the University of Nicosia. He studied History at the University of Cardiff where he received his B.A (Hons). His postgraduate studies are in the field of History and History Methodology and Didactics. He received his Doctorate\, from the University of Middlesex (U.K.) of which he is currently an Internal Examiner. Since 2000 he has been teaching Cyprus History on the M.A. in International Relations Programme\, and Cyprus History and History Didactics on the B.A. in the Primary Education Programme\, at the University of Nicosia.
